Program Benefits:

The Community Mental Health – One Year Gerontology Certificate Program of study is one of the first and best of its kind in Ontario. Due to the significantly high numbers of seniors living in the province, great care was taken to develop and maintain an exceptionally high quality program that would serve our seniors well.

The program includes 200 hours Clinical Placement which involves supervised practice in approved clinical situation in Gerontology.

Gerontology Certificate Program has a thorough and up-to-date curriculum which expands graduates’ knowledge and experience in all aspects of geriatric mental health.

The program is also intended as an enhancement and enrichment program for professionals who already work in healthcare or in social service fields and wish to further specialize in geriatric mental health.

This can also be the nurses’ pathway to go to Canada as soon as possible, upgrade credentials, be registered, and eventually work and settle in the province of their choice.

 Students can work 20 hours per week on school days and unlimited hours on school break.

 Students will be eligible for a one year open work permit after graduation.

 Work for one year in any recognized skilled occupation, satisfy IELTS requirement of all 6 or 5-4-5-5 and apply for permanent residency through the Canadian Experience Class.

 Spouses are eligible to have an open work permit where they can work unlimited hours.

This program prepares individuals for rewarding work in a variety of settings that provide healthcare, social work, counseling, recreational therapy, and other services for elderly people experiencing mental health problems.

Admission Requirements
-Bachelor’s degree from their home country (transcripts required)
-Proof of English proficiency;
IELTS(Academic): 6.0 overall (No individual band under 5.5)
-Embassy required proof of funds for the tuition fee and living expenses for one year

Note: Personal Support Worker Program is an Option in case of inability to get a passing IELTS. This may lead to Caregiver program for Migration
